SEMA GREENBERG SCHUB
November 10, 1933 – July 28, 2019.
Sema Schub died on July 28 in Santa Fe after a tough-fought battle with Parkinson’s. Sema, called Simmy by much of her family, was born November 10, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Louis and Bessie Greenberg and was the youngest of five siblings. At 19, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she met and married the love of her life, Martin Schub, on June 24, 1956. They raised four daughters initially in Merrick, Long Island, New York, moving the family to Los Angeles in 1977 and buying a home in Santa Fe in 1990. Together, Marty and Sema built two furniture businesses before retiring.
Sema loved to entertain and to travel and was a frequent attendee at the monthly Travel Bug slide show presentations. She was a loyal member of Beth Shalom synagogue. You may have seen her in earlier years at the water aerobics classes at Fort Marcy, and more recently at exercise classes at the Mary Esther Gonzalez Senior Center, the Chavez Center, and singing, dance, and Nia classes as well.
She is survived by her brother Earl, her daughters Robin Matthewman, Teri Moellenberg, and Lisa Schub, as well as her sons-in-law, ten grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Sema during the afternoon of September 1, in Santa Fe (write to phxmom4@aol.com for details). In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Parkinson & Movement Disorder (PMD) Alliance at ww.pmdalliance.org.
