Senaida R. Vigil 81, of Taos born on July 16, 1932 went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 20, 2014. Senaida is preceded in death by Gilbert C. and Maria Luisa Rivera (parents), Jesse J. and Mary O. Vigil (in-laws), brothers; Armando Rivera, Louis Rivera, Tony Rivera, Fernando Rivera, sisters; Sally Martinez, and Molly Ferguson, daughter Becky Martinez and grand-daughter Leslie Nicole Vigil. Senaida is survived by her loving husband Arthur E. Vigil of 62 years, children Gil (Jimmy) Vigil, Mary Louise (Tita) Vigil, Jessica Vigil (Porfirio), Cecilia Vaquera, Arthur E. Vigil, Jr. (Barbara), Angelo Vigil (Annette), Mary Antonice Piper, Mario Obed Vigil (Darlene), Teresa Trujillo (Joe), Gilbert C., (Rocky) Vigil (Lawanna), and Adam Ferguson (Mary Ann), her sisters Maddie Santistevan (Jimmy), Donna Hymes (Jim) and Maria Gallegos (Alex). Grandma Senaida is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many loved ones, relatives, and friends.
Senaida graduated from Taos High School in 1952, she was employed by Taos County, as the Clerk, Treasure, and she later was elected as County Assessor where she served for many years. She also served her community in different capacities and helped many to elected offices. As a seamstress she made outfits for the Mystic Dance Team, and repaired clothing for many people in her community. Her favorite places to meet and talk with people were Taoseno, Wal-Mart and Albertsons. We will miss her greatly but are thankful that she is resting in peace and we know her body is whole and complete as she rejoices with her heavenly father.
Memorial Service was held on May 24, 2014 at Rivera Chapel.
