Shanda Marie Sweeney, 46, of Nambe Pueblo, N.M. was called home by our Lord on Saturday August 27, 2022. Shanda was born on March 31st, 1976, in Leadville, Colorado, to Rudy and Madeline Sweeney. Our loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and auntie is preceded in death by grandparents Michael Bobby & Roberta Perez, Rudy & Mary Sweeney, and uncles David Sweeney, Andy Perez, and Robert Perez, and cousins Andrew and Jerome Sweeney. She is survived by her children Keysha, Anthony Jr., Dylon, and Kassandra; her grandson Dominicus; her parents Madeline Sweeney & Rudy Sweeney and step-mother Elena Sweeney; her sisters and their spouses Melissa & Mike Ortiz, Sarah Martinez & Jamie Archuleta, Miranda & Chris Kitts, and Sierra Mondragon; her nieces and nephews, Alexandria, Miquela, Jose, Mariah, Caleb, Elysianna, Jesiah, and Sienna, along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shanda was born in Leadville Colorado and raised in Nambe Pueblo, New Mexico. As a child, Shanda enjoyed roller skating, hula hooping, and the outdoors. She always had a smile on her face and brought joy to everyone around her. She was the oldest of five sisters and took her role very seriously. She had a motherly spirit to her and always cared for her younger sisters. The bond she shared with her sisters was unmatched. They were always together laughing, planning family gatherings, camping, going to concerts, and taking girls trips together. In her spare time, you could always find Shanda with one of her sisters. Her family and her children were her world, they meant everything to her. She was always cheering on her kids at their games and she traveled across the country to see them play. Her happiest moments were spent with her children and family, hugging and kissing each and every one of them. She loved her nieces and nephews like her own children, each one held a special place in her heart.
Shanda enjoyed spending time in the mountains, cooking, caring for animals, and caring for her plants. She was famous for her white cheddar mac-n-cheese and French toast. Shanda went the extra mile when planning and preparing a dish for family potlucks, providing over the top fixings and toppings to make the meal extra special. Her obsession and love for dogs and plants was known by those close to her. The neighborhood dogs knew where to go for a treat, tapping at her front door waiting to be let in so that they could hang out with Shanda. Her furry four-legged neighbors loved her so and began taking their friends by to share in Shanda’s love and affection.
Shanda attended Pojoaque Valley Schools from grade school through high school and graduated in 1994. Shanda was employed at Christus St.Vincent’s and Walgreens. She was known to be a dedicated employee, hard worker, and her team could always rely on her.
Shanda is loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We find comfort in knowing that she continues to be surrounded by loved ones in heaven.
