Shawnti Aquino

August 12, 1977 — April 11, 2024

Shawnti E. Aquino, of Ohkay Owingeh, NM passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024, at the age of 46. Born to Johnnie and Rita Aguino on August 12, 1977. Shawnti was a master mechanic, embarking on a 25-year career in the auto industry.

Shawnti was a loving father, husband, son, brother, family member and friend. Anytime you were around him it was hard not to smile. He always had something outrageously funny to say. No matter what witty words he had, you knew it was Shawnti being Shawnti. His pride and joy were his kids, he loved cheering them on and encouraging them to do their best. Shawnti was a passionate Pittsburg Stealer and Atlanta Brave fan.

Shawnti is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Johnny and Patrolina Aguino, and maternal grandmothers Madeline Cata and Christine Cata, and sister Cynthia Aquino.

Shawnti is survived by his parents Johnnie and Rita Aguino, wife Iris Aquino, son Shawnti II aka Buddy, daughters Alexis Aquino aka  little honey, Shanaya Aquino and Domonique Quintana, sisters Eunice Moya (Anthony) and Shellie Garcia (Corey), parents in-laws Joseph and Debbie Duran, sister in-laws Reylene Balisteri, Jolene Herrera (Linus) and Jennell Duran, brother in-law Phillip Duran and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers: Emmette Aguino, Christopher Cata, Martin Cata, Charles Dean III, Corey Garcia, Kyle Krantz, Caleb Martinez, John Moya and Jose Trujillo.

A Rosary was held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Aguino residence in Ohkay Owingeh, NM. Mass was held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at San Juan Bautista Parish in Ohkay Owingeh, NM, with a burial following at the Ohkay Owingeh Cemetery.

The Aguino family would like to give special thanks to ICU staff at CHRISTUS St. Vincent, Rosary Society from Holy Cross and  the Hermano’s de Los Pachecos for the beautiful rosary, the cooks, servers, helpers and everyone who has reached in our time of grief.
