Sheron Delene (Rudd) Perry
March 15, 1943 - January 25, 2025
It is with the heaviest hearts we announce Sheron Delene (Rudd) Perry completed her earthly journey Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Her journey began March 15, 1943, in the small west Texas town of Slaton. She was the only daughter of Bertie (Moore) and Elsie Rudd. Sheron was a sister to three older brothers, Charles (Nelda), Deal (Pansy), and Bennie (Johnny), and a younger brother, Bobby.
She became the beloved wife of James H. Perry on March 18, 1960. Over their 64-plus years together, she became the mother of three children: Jamie Perry, Jayson Perry (Shelby), and Shana Rushton (Brendan). In addition to the blessings of her three children, she was gifted with five grandchildren: Candice, Donald, Joseph, Canvice, and Hadley. She also was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren.
As far as grandmothers go, her grandchildren feel so blessed to have had a grandmother who forged a special bond with each of them. These are some of their cherished memories they hold dear. In their early childhood, they remember her coming to visit them in Virginia, and then bi-annually the family would eagerly anticipate the trip to Rociada, New Mexico. All five grandchildren loved spending time at the home of their grandparents.
While the memories are many some highlights would be a grandmother who shared her kitchen with them, teaching them to make items like rolls, fudge, and pumpkin pie. Having children underfoot, one knows that takes a lot more time. She played games with them and had long talks with them on the porch. She nurtured them when they were hurt, and for that, she will always be remembered and cherished. These acts were labors of love. She instilled the value of patience, kindness, multitasking, and above all, doing everything with love.
This love she shared was like the Love God provided her and her family. Her belief in our Savior and His Son, Jesus, who was the author of all gifts and love. She thanked the Lord daily and shared that with her family during good and hard times. She prayed for them and made herself available.
Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” That applies to grandchildren too.
Delene was also a published author of Christian books that are still available on Amazon. This accomplishment was another example of her hard work and perseverance.
Delene was also a long-time founding member of the Rociada Baptist Church at 256 HWY 105, Rociada, New Mexico. She and her family used their hands and hearts to build a way to share the Good News to the community. Delene’s Service will be held there on January 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
