Sherwood Ensey

Sherwood Ensey, a resident of Chimayo, age 76, went to rest in peace on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Sherwood was a loving husband, father, Gampy, brother and friend. He was a very outspoken, compassionate, and joke telling man. 

Sherwood was preceded in death by his son Shawn Ensey, his parents Cotton and A. Mozelle Ensey, and nephew John Phelps.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia; daughter Shannon and son Christopher; sister Louisa (Richard) and brother Sammy (Lisa); grandchildren Kiera, Andrew, Shawn and Charles; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and friends.

Services are scheduled for December 15th, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Even though we cannot see you, we know that your still with us.

The family would like to thank St. Vincent's hospital and the NM Heart Hospital for their outstanding care of Sherwood during his illness, and Rivera Funeral Home for their care of the family during this time.
