Sisto A. Garcia, 82, of Espanola, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife and grandson on the morning of July 8th, 2020.
Sisto was born in Mosquero, New Mexico on October 11th, 1937 to Julian and Dulcinea Garcia.
Sisto grew up in Wagon Mound and moved to Espanola with his family at a young age. He attended Santa Cruz High School and worked with his father who was an electrical contractor. He married his beautiful wife in 1957 and a few years later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Ten years later he moved his family back to Espanola where he built a home and raised his family. Sisto continued working as an electrician and electrical contractor. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He made many friends and was well respected by his coworkers. Sisto was a member of the Knights of Columbus and would often help with electrical issues at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz and San Juan Parish.
Sisto was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Penelope Joy. His parents Julian and Dulcinea. Brothers Joe Garcia, Phil Garcia and Leo Garcia. Sisters Alicia Garcia, Francis Padilla, Lydia Garcia, and Beatrice Sandoval.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Angie Leah Garcia, grandsons Jeremy Roybal and Joshua Roybal who he raised as his own. Children Ernest Garcia (wife Tina), Laurie Martinez (husband Joseph), Grandchildren Mario Garcia (wife Jessi), Enrico Garcia (wife Krystal), Valerie Martinez (husband Bobby), Leah Martinez (husband Jeremy). Step-grandchildren Chris Chavez, Amanda Romero, Daniel Garcia, David Garcia. Thirteen great-grandchildren, ten-step great-grandchildren. A sister, Veronica Sewell, and brothers Ralph Garcia (wife Ciria) and Orlando Garcia. Sister-in-laws Sally Borrego, Margaret Sisneros (husband Joe), and Nettie Alarid (husband Jerry); brother-in-law, Tony Medina. His very close nephew, Robert Garcia.
Serving as pallbearers are Mario Garcia, Enrico Garcia, Jeremey Roybal, Joshua Roybal, Leah Martinez, and Valerie Martinez.
The funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz at 11:00 am on Friday, July 17th, 2020. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance will be limited to a maximum of 60 people.
Interment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in El Llano.
