Sonny James Marquez

MARQUEZ Sonny James Marquez, 35, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Saturday, April 24, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was raised in Vadito, NM and resided in Albuquerque, NM for the last 17 years. Sonny was a driven and motivated person whose positive attitude and big smile touched many. He was the founder of the Sandia Mountain Volleyball Classic Tournament and could always be found on a sand volleyball court or actively marketing his clothing line. Sonny was a loyal friend, brother, son, father and devoted husband who will be greatly missed. Sonny is survived by his wife, Kelly Marquez of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Selena Salazar of Anthem, AZ; father, Orlando Marquez, Jr. of Vadito, NM; mother, Adelina Romero; sister, Eleanor Marquez-Miranda; brother, Chris Marquez of Albuquerque, NM; and grandmother, Vincenta Marquez of Las Vegas, NM. Rosary was recited April 30, 2010 at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. A Catholic Mass was celebrated May 1, 2010, at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church in Penasco.
