Sostenes J. Mascarenas

Sostenes J. Mascarenas, 83, of Espanola, NM passed away on November 14, 2012. He is preceded in death by his mother Antonia Mascarenas and father Meliton Mascarenas, 1st wife and mother of his children Donelia Mascarenas, 2nd wife Josephine Mascarenas, sons: Michael and Johnny Mascarenas, daughter Barbara Jean and grandchildren: JD Mascarenas Jr., Eric Vigil, Angel Garcia, Eliza Martinez and John Paul Martinez Jr. He is survived by his sons: Harold and wife Maria of Estaca, Peter and wife Frances, Dennis and wife Rosie all of Chamita, Mark and wife Esther of Estaca, daughters: Lorraine and special son-in-law Elias Sisneros of Fairview, NM, Carmella and special son-in-law Gilbert of Las Vegas, NM, Barbara Vigil and companion Pancho of Fairview, NM, Diana and husband Lorenzo Sanchez of Estaca, companion Maria Torrez, 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sostenes enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He also enjoyed having morning coffee with his friends at the Espanola McDonalds and playing bingo at the Community Center. A visitation and rosary were held on November 16, 2012. A mass was celebrated on November 17, 2012. All services were held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial followed in Chamita and proceeded with a reception at the Chamita Community Center. Pallbearers: James Sisneros, Andres Vigil, John Paul Martinez, Donald Salazar, Tony Valdez and Pete Velarde. Honorable Pallbearers: Harold, Peter and Mark Mascarenas, Robert Salazar, David and Ricky Mascarenas, and Jerry Gonzales, Sr.
