Steven R. Smail

Steven Smail of Santa Fe passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2025. He was born on July 18,1979, at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. Steven was a jack of all trades. He worked for a short time with his dad’s plumbing business. He worked for Discount Glass and was the Maintenance Coordinator at his apartment building, Tres Santos. He was currently working for Brewer Oil Company.

Steven put other people before himself, he was the caregiver for his maternal grandparents for a number of years. He volunteered to fix things at Zia United Methodist church many a time. Steven always found time to call family and friends and to keep in touch.

Steven is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; Wm Bruce and Mary Jo Paul, paternal grandparents; Donald and Ruth Smail, cousin: David Funck jr., and sister-in-law; Danielle Smail. Steven is survived by his lifelong partner; Angel Houston and her daughter Felciana, his mother; Anne Jones and Anthony Cordova (pops), his father; Steven E. Smail and wife (Yvonne), his brother; John Smail, his sisters; Donnell Jones and Amanda Jones, his step sister; Nicole, his step brothers; Mark and Anthony (Tiger), many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on February 5, 2025, at 11:30 am at Zia United Methodist church (3368 Governor Miles Rd., Santa Fe NM 87507) with a reception following at Adelita’s restaurant at 12:30 pm (3136 Cerrillos Rd., Santa Fe NM 87507). His ashes will be interred at Memorial Gardens at a later date.
