Susan Cox Chupek passed away on January 18th, 2016 in Santa Fe New Mexico with her loving husband by her side.
No services will be held at this time, instead a party celebrating her life will be held this summer for family and close friends.
Susan was born on September 22nd 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri to two loving parents David and Mary Ann Cox. As the middle sister in her family she assumed the wild child role always bending the rules and marching to the beat of her own drum. As a child one summer while vacationing with her older sister, Ann Porter, she was found playing cards with a group of sailors in the club car of the train they were traveling on.
Susan’s zest for life never faded throughout her years and was always the life of the party. Dancing and laughing throughout her life, her confidence and sense of humor were inspiring. Naturally an amazing host Sue could throw a great party as well. She exceled in the kitchen and those close to her knew of her culinary talents. Glasses were never empty and there were never many leftovers after one of Sue’s parties. She did this all with an ease and grace usually only found in the movies.
However like a diamond there were many facets to Susan. Also very politically active, she took great interest in the welfare of our country. A staunch liberal democrat and a huge fan of Barack Obama she was always up to date on the latest news and always up for a friendly debate. A lover of all animals in her short time here she had just begun to volunteer at the local animal shelter in Taos, Stray Hearts. An avid reader she was often found with her Nook and a cup of coffee in the morning or her Nook and a glass of wine at night. Very physically active as well she loved to run, waterski, downhill ski, and later in life discovered a passion for yoga.
Above all else Susan was the most generous devoted wife, mother, sister, sister in law, aunt, and person ever. She always said we’d be a sorry lot without her and we truly will.
Susan Cox Chupek is survived by her husband Joe Chupek, her two sons David and George Chupek, her sister Jan Harden, her brothers in law Tim Porter and John Bonner, her sister in law Eileen Bonner, her nieces Eve Blackwater, Virginia Dorfmeister, and Marianne Tarantino, and her nephews Timothy Porter and John Joseph Bonner. This obituary is protected by copyright laws, unauthorized use or duplication is prohibited.
