SUSAN LEA NORDMEYER, 63, of Rio Chiquito, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at her home. She was born in Galveston, Texas on January 18, 1949 to Arthur and Dorothy Nordmeyer. She is survived by her son John Stroud of Brooklyn, New York, her daughter Sara Stroud of San Francisco, California, her sister Sharon Key of Narragansett, Rhode Island, her sister Hope Nordmeyer, of Houston, her brother-in-law Doug Marvy, also of Houston, and numerous extended family members. Susans passion for justice and education was fulfilled in positions she held throughout her adult life. In the state of California, her work included her role as training and education coordinator for the Center for Families, Children and the Courts, and Director of Court Services in Orange County. In New Mexico, she worked with the Council of Eight Northern Pueblos as an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Her most recent positions were at Northern New Mexico College as a teacher and project director.
