Sylvia Chavez

Sylvia Chavez, 76 years old passed away at home on April 3, 2017. Sylvia was a lovely and unselfish woman who touched many lives with her kindness. Sylvia was devoted to her family. She cared for her adult sister, raised her wonderful son, loved and treasured her grandchildren and enjoyed her many friends. Sylvia loved the outdoors and hiking in nature. Whether she was building her own rock wall, chopping wood, making homemade tortillas, painting, or sewing a quilt, Sylvia was using her hands and heart to create and make the best of life. Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved son Edward Romero, mother Carmel Chavez, father Frank Chavez, sister Sarah Chavez, and brother Carlos Chavez. She is survived by her grandchildren Diego and Alexandria Romero, daughter-in-law Socorro Garcia-Romero, nephew and niece Chris and Jennifer Chavez. Sylvia was a long-time resident of Santa Fe. She was a 1958 graduate of Santa Fe High School. She worked for insurance adjusters, civil engineers, and retired from Santa Fe County Extension Service. Sylvia will be thoroughly missed by her family, friends and the community. May we all be grateful for her love for God and that she is at peace now. A Rosary will be recited before the funeral mass at the Rosario Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at the Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe.
