Sylvia Montijo

Mrs. Sylvia Montijo, age 59 of Santa Fe, NM. died peacefully on Monday August 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by father Joe S. Garcia and brother Albert B. Garcia. She was born in Lubbock, TX. but came to New Mexico when she was a young lady, at age 10. Her great smile became her trademark, and she looked as beautiful as-ever, until the day she passed. She fought hard until the very end. Her family remembers her delicious Menudo, her fondness for sweets and Coca Cola, seeking treasures at yard sales and listening to Musica Nortena. She relaxed playing slot machines at area casino's, and will be dearly missed. She is survived by husband Erasmo Montijo, daughters Theresa Perea and wife Lisa, grandson Isaiah Perea, and Jessie Valladares and husband Arturo, granddaughter Paola Montijo, mother Amelia Garcia, and siblings: Joe B. Garcia & family, Yolanda Cerrillo & family, Joann Garcia & family, Irma Corral & family, Bobby Garcia & family, Gilbert Garcia & family, Ray Garcia & family, Paul Garcia & family, Cora Maldonado & family, Flor Esparza & family, Jeanette Orona & family, Reba Garcia & family, Reynaldo Garcia & family, and other beloved relatives from the Montijo family. The Montijo and Munoz relatives were especially supportive to Sylvia, and are appreciated. A rosary was recited on August 9, 2012 in the chapel of Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on August 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Interment followed at Rosario Cemetery.
