Teresa Burger

Teresa B. Burger passed away peacefully in her home in Santa Fe, NM on August 17, 2021. She was born Teresa Olivia Baca on June 22, 1935 to the late Margarito and Eloida Sandoval Baca. She is also preceded in death by her ex-husband George Maes and her second husband, Robert R. Burger, whom she enjoyed many happy years of adventures and hilarious misadventures. Teresa was a lifelong learner, traveler, and educator, who devoted many years to the schools in Santa Fe and Las Vegas as a Special Education and Reading Teacher. Teresa left grace, elegance, and beauty wherever she lived and worked. She was very creative and nurtured her passion for art with painting and decoupage. When she retired, she dedicated her time to her family, her garden, her books, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and shopping. Teresa loved to entertain and be entertained. She loved the restaurants in Santa Fe and Las Vegas, supporting local artists, going to museums, movies, and art galleries. She enjoyed a well told joke, reading, and a bit of chocolate every day. Teresa is survived by her daughters, Janet Maes, and Annette Lucero and husband Dennis. Grandchildren, Miguel (Shay), and Micaela Suazo, Sarah (Robert) Philip, Dennette (Cordelle) Nugent, and Leah (Siddhartha) Lucero-Dhawan. Great grandchildren Scotty and Maddox Philip, and Brixen Suazo. Stepchildren Mike (Julie), Tony (Nina), and Janie Burger and their children. Brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Fedelina Baca. Special cousins Nina and Ken Maloney, special friend and travel companion Trinidad Gallegos, former son-in law Mario Suazo, and numerous beloved, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends as well as her caregivers Janet, Micaela and Nancy.
