Theresa Donnelly

Theresa Stella Lopez Donnelly, December 11. 1929 – April 21, 2023.

Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Theresa Stella Lopez Donnelly, passed away peacefully to be with Jesus Christ her savior on April 21, 2023, surrounded by her 5 beloved children.

Theresa was 93 and was predeceased by her husband James Francis Donnelly III, her parents Eustacita and Frank Lopez, her sisters Socorro Garcia and Dolores Anaya. She is survived by her five children, Tim Donnelly and spouse Annette Ervin; Betsy Donnelly and spouse Bill Falkenthal; Patty Donnelly and spouse David Smith; Terri Romero and spouse Vince Romero; and Greg Donnelly; grandchildren, Masheka and spouse Greg Christiansen, Paul Brown and fiancé Joi, Latasha and spouse Jamontay Wallace, and step grandson Joshua Ervin. She also has eight great grandchildren along with many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Theresa was born December 11, 1929, in Santa Fe and except for a few years spent her life here. She was dedicated to her family, her faith, and her work with the church. She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1947 and married her late husband James Donnelly in 1951. She loved being a wife, mother, aunt, grandma, and great grandma and brought constant joy to our lives. She made us feel loved and protected, she loved to sing to us and with us, she danced and laughed with us which made the tough times dwindle away. Mom was a tiny woman with a giant heart and strong will. She loved to dress up and always looked stylish, and who can forget those hats and scarves she loved to wear!

Theresa worked for the State of New Mexico for 30 years, starting as a clerk and working her way up to Administrative Secretary to the Director of the State Highway Department. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe catholic church, and a dedicated member of the choir as well as serving as the secretary and treasurer of the church altar society. She took pride in everything she did and always went above and beyond.

After retirement Theresa found joy in cultivating her flower garden and travelling with family and with her longtime companion of over 15 years, Bernie Armstrong of Cerrillos, NM.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Santuario. There will be a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and the mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial services are at 12:30 at the Santa Fe National Cemetary.

As her last wish, Theresa has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made directly to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
