Theresa R. Wallace died peacefully in Santa Fe on the Feast Day of her Patron Saint, Saint Therese of the Child Jesus. Theresa was born in Wagon Mound NM to Ricardo Rivera and Ana Garcia Rivera. She married Eugene A. Wallace in 1950 in Las Vegas NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, many beloved cousins, and in laws: George Anton, Marion (Red) Young, Alejandro and Camila Gaussoin Wallace, Gilbert Wallace, Alfred and Sally Wallace, Mary and Arthur Esquibel, James Wallace, Nancy Wallace, Pete and Dorothe Santistevan. She is survived by her daughters, Patrica Rivera Wallace of Santa Fe, Deborah (Wesley) Young of Peralta NM, and her sisters, Cecilia D. Rivera of Santa Fe and Rosalie Rivera Anton of Tucson. She is also survived by her sister in law, Ann Amelia Wallace, many nieces/nephews and other relatives.
Theresa graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and Highlands University in Las Vegas. She was blessed to have a career she loved. She taught first grade for almost 30 years, first in the Espanola Public Schools, then at Kearny Elementary in Santa Fe. She also taught CCD classes at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas and at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Fe. She was an avid reader, artist and gardener who especially loved her pink rosebush, iris, tulips and hollyhocks. She was a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, where she had many friends, particularly Eutilia Alarid.
