Thomas (Tommy) Christopher Tapia

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our loved one, Tommy. He was born on September 20, 1970 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and peacefully left this world on January 24, 2025. 

Tommy was the beloved son of Benjamin & Georgia Tapia. is survived by his three children: Paul and William Tapia and daughter Viviana Alonso as well as his father Benjamin Tapia, sister Patricia Tapia-Ackerman (Scott), and former wife Lisa Tapia. He was preceded in death by his mother Georgia Tapia, sister Sandy Tapia, and brother Gerald Tapia. 

Tommy was a loving father who always put his family first. He met Lisa, the mother of his two boys, at The Elks Lodge and connected through their passion for metal music. They soon married and had a happy family together.

Tommy attended Santa Fe High School and graduated in 1989. In his early years, he drove for UPS and Swift. Later in life, he found a passion for meteorology and would always warn friends and family of imminent weather. Although he regretted never going to college for this, he learned the science behind meteorology via internet research. 

Tommy’s kindness and generosity will always be remembered by the many lives he touched. Whether it be a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a weather warning, he gave freely of himself. 

Tommy leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a reminder that even in the face of life’s challenges, a helping hand can make all the difference. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace. 

Funeral arrangements for Tommy will be Thursday February 6, 2025 at 11:30 am at Adventure Life Church 62 A Van Nu Po in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
