Thomas Francis O'Rourke

Thomas Francis O’Rourke of Taos, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 29th, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Gary, Michael, and Sandra O’Rourke, and Roger Williams. Tom was born in Dubuque, Iowa on May 22nd, 1944 to Helen (Heim) and Thomas O’Rourke of Galena, Illinois. A graduate of the University of San Diego, California, he was a lifelong learner who was passionate about literature, writing, philosophy, music, and art. Tom settled in the countryside near Harrisburg, Oregon with Karin Johnson where they raised their family of five children. Tom and Karin eventually relocated to Taos, NM. Tom’s artistic ability and love of beauty shaped many of his life decisions including occupation, interests, and how he influenced his children. He had a tremendous capacity for love, a great sense of humor, and a deep commitment to family. He was an excellent listener and took an active interest in anything and everything that was important to his loved ones. He is deeply missed by his children and their spouses: Lotus (Dale) Maldaner, Iris (Wes) Rohrer, Robin, Rosalie, and Daniel; his grandchildren: Eryn, Aiden, Matia, Kienan Maldaner, Kalilah and Teagan Rohrer; his brother Craig Williams; and Karin Johnson.
