Thomas D. Gallegos, Jul 21, 1949 – Apr 17, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Thomas D. Gallegos, a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and friend. His kindness, generosity, wisdom, humor, and unwavering love touched the lives of many.

Thomas grew up in Alamosa, CO and later settled in Albuquerque, NM, where he met the love of his life, Kay Gallegos. Realizing that the corporate world couldn’t offer the life he envisioned, he went on his own path as an independent insurance agent and grew Rio Grande Insurance to what it is today with dozens of offices in multiple states.

Tom was special in many ways.  We remember his optimism, entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to family values, and the joy he found sharing stories with loved ones. His laughter was infectious, and his smile could light up any room.

Thomas was predeceased by his loving wife Kay Gallegos and is survived by his three daughters: Randi Hartman (Brad), Stephanie Garcia (Dominic) and Tanya Gallegos (David).  Additionally, he leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Zach Hartman (Alexis), Rachel Ferch (Jordan), Julian Garcia, Marcus Garcia, and great-grandson Bryce Ferch.  His surviving siblings include Glenn Gallegos (Vicki), Walter Gallegos Jr. (Mamie), Michelle Padilla and Maria Pacheco (Steve), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Loving Son of the late Walter & Epi Gallegos, sister Teresa Martin and brother Michael Gallegos.

His friends remember him as a loyal companion, always ready with a joke or a helping hand. Thomas’s impact extended beyond family and friends.  They respected that Tom always had his own visions and did not follow the pack.

• Public Viewing and Memorial Service: 4:00pm On Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Rivera Family Funeral Home.
• Rosary: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. Francis Cathedral.
• Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at St. Francis Cathedral.
• Burial Services: Noon on April 25th at Rosario Cemetery.
• Reception: To follow at The Sunset Terrace (across the street from Coyote Cantina)

Thomas D. Gallegos will forever remain in our hearts. May his soul find eternal peace.
