Tomas Gonzales, 84, of Taos (Valdez) passed away on February 13, 2006. He worked for 25 years in Wyoming as a sheepherder, 9 years in Gilman, CO as a miner and returned to Taos to work for 3 years with the Carson National Forest. He also worked with the Town of Taos as security and then retired to enjoy fishing, gardening, dancing and joking. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dora Trujillo Gonzales. He is survived by his children, Dianna Portillo (Manuel), Lorella Salazar (Ernest Martinez), Arthur T. Gonzales (Rose), Annette A. Vigil all of Taos and Nora Maestas (Joe) of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his sister, Guillerma Ortega of Valdez, aunts, Soveida Varos and Lola Gonzales, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Rosaries were recited on February 14, 2006 at Rivera Chapel and on February 15, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
