Tony L. Martinez Sr., 80, a resident of Ranchito’s, passed away on January 9th, 2022, with a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He is proceeded in by his father Leopoldo C. Martinez, his mother Trinidad Martinez, father-in-law Jose B. Baca, mother-in-law Margarita Baca, his son Toby G. Martinez, daughter-in-law Sylvia Gallegos-Martinez, grandson Antonio Valdez, sister Josephine Trujillo, brother-in-law Joe Trujillo, brothers; Pablo Martinez, Eliseo Martinez, and Jose Martinez, nephew Pablito Martinez, and granddaughter Juliet Martinez.
Tony had a love for music, he was a long-time musician for over 35 years and founder of Tony Y Mary Y Los Cavaliers. Music was his passion, his band was a family band formed of his wife, sons, nephews, grandsons, daughters, and friends. He also served the City of Espanola for 27 years and was a Veteran of the United States Army. Tony had so much love for his family, they were the world to him next to his love for the Lord.
Tony is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary E. Martinez, daughter Judy E. Archuleta and husband Anthony Archuleta, son Tony Martinez Jr. and partner Lori Montoya, daughter Jennifer Martinez, son Ben Martinez and our sunshine Michelle Herrera, daughter Sandy Madigan and husband Jason Madigan, daughter Debra Martinez and partner Aaron Corriz, son Tommy Martinez, and nephew Fabian Martinez, who is like a son, maternal aunt Bennie Gonzales, special uncle Antonio Atencio and aunt Lourdes Atencio, special aunt Floraine Atencio, brother Frutoso Martinez and wife Bernice Martinez, brother Belarmino Martinez and wife Lita Martinez, sister-in-law’s; Connie Martinez, Esther Martinez, Pheobe Cordova, Juanita Baca, Berlin Padilla and husband Leo Padilla, brother-in-law Dan and wife Eva Baca. Tony had 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Tony will be dearly missed by has large family and by the community. Please keep Tony’s wife and family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time of loss.
Services will start in Thursday, January 20th, 2022 5PM for visitation at Rivera Family Funeral Home in Espanola, Rosary will prayed at 6PM and Mass will be the following day Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10AM located at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
