Trinidad Martinez

Trinidad Rudy Martinez was born December 7, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rudy Martinez, who passed away on June 13, 2024. Resident of Taos, NM for 43 years and was loved and cherished by many.       

 

Rudy was survived by his brother Leroy P. Martinez, wife Clydine Martinez, nephew Erik Martinez, niece Melanie Martinez, niece Marylou Moya, nephew Louie Moya, and niece Mary Therese Romero. He was also cherished by other loving great nephews, nieces and cousins. 

 

Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Trinidad Martinez, mother, Nestora Martinez, brother Freddie S. Martinez, and sister Lorraine Moya.

 

When Rudy moved to Taos, he immediately started his cobbler career better known as “El Zapatero” at Ranchero Boot. His employers, who became family to him, Benny and wife Esther Salazar, and their daughter, Nicole Salazar-Convoy (Kevin Convoy), and their daughters, Tiffany and Shaylah, and Naomi Salazar who considered him Grandpa (Pampa). She watched over him for ten years and loved him dearly. 

 

Rudy’s hobbies were fishing, shooting pool, and playing dominos. Rudy was a Broncos and Bills fan, who enjoyed watching the football games. His new artistic hobby was painting all different shapes and sizes of rocks. 

 

A Rosary will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 9:00 am. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos NM. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am. A prayer, music, and potluck will be held at Iglesia LLuvias de Gracia located at 1194 San Francis Road, Building A Taos, NM 87571, following the Mass.
