Born and raised in Chimayo, NM, Trinnie was the third out of seven children. She was a devout Catholic. In 1957, Trinnie met her husband, Felix at a dance. Felix always said that he fell in love with her from “across the dance floor”. They married and moved to Cundiyo – a quaint village which would become her lifelong home. Trinnie was a devoted wife and mother who constantly supported the endeavors of her children. Most importantly, she wanted each of them to know that it was her wish that they find fulfillment and happiness in their own ways.
Trinnie was a gifted seamstress, designing custom made wedding gowns, prom dresses and theatrical costumes for special events. She also spent time quilting and working on Women’s and Men’s Tailoring and Alterations, all from her own home. She also, gardened flowers. They were so beautiful; people would often ask if she’d sell her flowers.
Trinnie adored her grandchildren. Their best times were spent baking empanaditas and biscochitos and cooking. They would enjoy the Cundiyo day by going for a walk to get the mail and to walk to the river. She loved traveling with and for her grandchildren via road trip to near and far places. She enjoyed attending cultural events, going to museums, visiting spiritual sites, such as the Santuario de Chimayo and going to school celebrations for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sagrada Familia for the Capilla de Santo Domingo Church in Cundiyo. In her later years, she became very charitable – donating money to causes that supported and advocated for the rights of Native American and Indigenous Children.
During the last 20 years of her life, she developed the hobby of coin collecting. She had her own coin books where she’d place all the United States state coins. She’d gift the rarest coins to her grandchildren.
Serving the family as Pallbearers are Michael Garcia, Leroy Sandoval, Carlos Esteban Chacon, Felix Damian Vigil Jr, Gabriel Garcia and Leandro Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers are all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Vigil Family would like to give a special thanks to the Ambercare Staff and Rivera Mortuary for their compassion and care for Trinnie.
Services will be kept private for the family during this difficult time, thank you for your condolences.
