Ursula Martinez , loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and best friend to many went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1931 on San Francisco Street in Santa Fe New Mexico to Eleuteria Lozano Romero and Carlos Antonio Romero. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother (Carlos Romero) and her ex-husband (Eli Martinez Sr.).
She is survived by her five children, Frances Martinez-Coyne (Daniel), Elaine Henderson, Elizabeth Castillo, her adopted son Anthony Rivera and her two estranged children, Eli Martinez and Sandra Griego. She loved all twelve of her grandchildren and her three great grandchild that she knew.
Ursula was a self employed woman, housewife, and beautiful mother. In her early years of life Ursula was employed at La Fonda Hotel and Tigerts, later on in life she continued her employment at Mervyns and Walmart. Her passions in life included gardening, reading, crocheting colorful hand towels, talking to her best friend of many years Gaby Lucero, and any shopping (her favorite).
Ursula loved life and in her later years embraced adventure with a joyful heart. She was witty and had the most interesting stories of her life growing up in the depression in Santa Fe which she was always ready to share. She traveled to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and many cities in the U.S. She was with us for 89 years, not long enough, each memory of her beautiful soul, heart, jokes and smile will be preciously held until we meet again in heaven. Thank you Mom.
