Utelia Trujillo

Utelia (Tillie) Trujillo, January 18, 1938 - June 25, 2019.  It is with great sadness that the family of Tillie Trujillo announces her passing at the age of 81.  Tillie was born and grew up in Velarde, NM and spent most of her life in Cundiyo, NM with her loving husband of 60 years, Gilbert Trujillo.  Tillie spent the first part of her married life being a stay at home wife and mother.  After her youngest son started school, she went to work for the Pojoaque School system where she spent the next 25+ years working as a bookkeeper for the cafeteria and a school bus driver for Ortiz Transportation. 

Tillie was a very loving person.  She always offered her help and support and was generous with everyone.  She was a hard worker and never shied away from difficult situations.  She was a devoted mother and wife.  While she disciplined her children, she was also their biggest supporter and their rock.  She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as they adored her.  Her passing leaves a hole in all of our hearts.

Tillie will be welcomed in Heaven by her parents, Antonia & Alberto Martinez Sr.; sisters: Laura Atencio, Maria Ortiz & Marcella Martinez; brothers: Vidal Martinez & Albert Martinez.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Trujillo; daughters: Dolores Arreola (Gildardo), Della Trujillo (Brian), Joyce Sullivan (Patrick) and Donna Curry (Doug); sons: Don Trujillo (Olga) and Gilbert Trujillo Jr.  (Beverly) and two granddaughters that she helped raise, Tanya Martinez (Steven) and Ariana Trujillo (Nate).  Grandchildren:  Rudy Trujillo, David Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan, Kelly Escobar, Sarah Curry, Nick Garcia, Anique Sandoval and Aaliyah Trujillo.  Sister: Frances Lopez (Eloy); brothers: Dennis Martinez and Virgil Martinez (Lucy); sister/niece Trisha Archuleta (Victor).  Tillie was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM at 10:00 am.  Internment will be scheduled, at a later date.
