Val Ortiz

Val E. Ortiz, a baker, passed away peacefully at his home in Arroyo Seco, NM on July 22,2021 surrounded by family and loved ones. Val was born on February 14, 1949 in Santa Fe, NM to Ernesto and Ramona Ortiz. In 1985 he met his lifelong love, Brenda and Val have been together since. He enjoyed the company of his five Chihuahuas, caring for Neveah, camping, fishing, hunting and preparing Thanksgiving dinner for the family gathering.

Val is preceded in death by his parents Ernesto and Ramona Ortiz, his son Christopher Ortiz, in-laws Adolfo and Adelita Salazar, brother in-laws Rudy and Eddie Salazar. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Ortiz, daughter Michelle Ortiz, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sisters; Genevieve Reyes, Celia Medrano (Val), Lupe Saiz, Angie Barbero, Carmen Ortiz, Lena Gonzales (Andrew), Tina Ortiz, brothers; James Ortiz (Liz), and Joe Lovato (Donna). He is also survived by his special nieces, Neveah, Sophia, Hopie, Barbara, and numerous other nieces/nephews, relatives and friends. A special brother in-law Arthur Salazar whom he hung around with in younger days and still to the day he passed.  Serving the Ortiz Family as pallbearers are; Arthur Salazar, James Ortiz, Joe Lovato, George Valdez, Richard Roybal, and Donald Medina. Serving the Ortiz Family as honorary pallbearers; Ivan Moya and Joey Valdez.

Viewing will be on Thursday July 29, 2021 at 2pm-4pm in the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel located at 305 Calle Salazar Espanola, NM.

Rosary will be prayed on Friday July 30, 2021 at 9AM. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 9:30AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM with interment to follow at 2PM at the Rosario Cemetery and Mausoleum, Santa Fe, NM.
