Vera A. Vigil (Lucero/Duran), 85 adored mother and multi generational grandmother passed away Friday, August 25th in Santa Fe. She died in her beloved New Mexico according to her wishes. Along time resident of the Espanola Valley, she moved to Las Vegas, Neveda in 1992. Vera is preceded in death by her husband Eliseo G. Vigil in 2000. Vera was born in Salida, Colorado in 1921 and raised by Ramon and Lisaida Lucero of Santa Cruz. Vera, a woman of valor, leaves behind a large loving family that includes her five children: Helen Garcia (Raymond) of Alacalde, Esperanza Oakes (Richard) of Santa Fe, J. Eliseo Vigil
f Santa Fe, Diana Vigil Gitterman (Alan) of Los Angeles, and Toby F. Vigil of Espanola. Vera's greatest and utmost joy was to witness five generations of family who deeply touched her. Vera leaves a multitude of loving friends and family from around the world. Vera cherished her relationship with her Espanola families.
She was childhood member, of the Carmelitas de Santa Cruz de la Canada and an active member of Holy Family of La Loma, Vera was honored and active with ORT America helping to promote education throughout the World. Vera always said "Education is something that can never be taken away," Public visitation will be held on Monday, August 28th, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 29th, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. As mother always told us: May the souls of all the faiths depart through the mercy of God Rest In Peace. AMEN.
