Veronica Gonzales, age 71 was called home on June 18, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Veronica was born to Nick and Margaret Gonzales, in Santa Fe, New Mexico on June 25, 1946. She spent a lot of her younger years with her maternal grandparents Herculano and Francisca Montoya in La Cienega, New Mexico. Veronica enjoyed gardening, dancing, music, crafts, baking, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Veronica worked and was well known at the Green Onion, in Santa Fe, and also at Saint John’s College. She was a member of the DeVargas Civitian Club in Santa Fe for many years. Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, siblings; Carla Gonzales, Rudy Gonzales, Jimmy Gonzales, and Mary Cincio. She is survived by her husband Albert Gonzales. Children; Joseph Morales and wife Georgette, Jeanette Morales, Joan Morales and husband Marcos Kelly and Sandra Gonzales. Step-children Donna, Rosalie and Sam Gonzales. Grandchildren; Jessica, Joseph and Jenae Morales, Daniel Maes, Carlos Kelly, Rozlyn Baca, Naomi and Ciara Martinez and John Paul Padilla. Siblings; Josie Baca and husband David, Ramona Olivas, Patricia Marrow and husband Steve, Rick Gonzales and wife Hela, Nick Gonzales and wife Helen, Marsha Gonzales, Nellie Gonzales and companion Renal Holmes, Danny Gonzales and partner Lawrence, Anna Gonzales, and Loretta Gonzales and partner Jackie, Tony Gonzales, Carlos Gonzales and wife Betty, Peggy Montano and husband Steve and Nick Jr. Gonzales. Brother-in-law Jose Gonzales and wife Debbie. She had numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Rosary and viewing services will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 to began at 6 p.m. at Rivera’s Funeral home in Espanola, New Mexico. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Rosario Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 9 a.m. interment will follow at the National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
