Victoria Dominguez

Victoria Dominguez of Chimayo, NM, age 50, went to rest in peace with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones.

For those close to Victoria, she was simply known as Vik and was an inspiring Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and colleague who was gracious with her time, giving people close to her a big hug (aka Vik Hug) and shared her smile and enthusiasm for life.

Victoria was fiercely independent, loved traveling, camping, horseback riding, dancing, and trying new adventures. She made friends quickly and had many long-lasting friendships because of her compassionate heart, always willing to offer a shoulder to lean on or lend an ear to listen, generously sharing her time with you. 

Victoria loved being surrounded by family, rarely missing a family event, making it a priority to attend family and close friends’ baptisms, sporting events, graduations, weddings, and was always present for holiday gatherings.  More recently, it was her Grandchildren that gave her significant joy and she shared her laughter, smile, a Vik hug and love of life with them at every opportunity.

Victoria graduated from Northern New Mexico Community college with an Associates of Applied Science in Secretarial Administration. She was an excellent professional having a 28-year career at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where she endeared herself to those she worked with, taking time to develop other professionals, support her colleagues, and created lasting professional relationships.

Victoria is preceded in death by her mother Felicita Romero; Grandparents Diego and Matilde Lovato, and Antonio and Ascencion Romero. Victoria is survived by her Children: Vanessa Leyba (Daniel), Veronica Dominguez and Jerome Dominguez; Step-Son Eric Lopez and father of her children, Gene Dominguez; Grandchildren: Damien Leyba, Dominic Leyba and Makayla Leyba; Father Conrado Romero; Brothers: Paul Romero (Kelly Romero) and Michael Romero (Shirley Romero); Nephews, Niece and Grand Niece: Noah Romero (Kristen Romero), Zach Romero, Anthony Romero, Elise Romero and Marlee Rayne Romero; and Half-Sister Jessica Bliven, along with a large extended family and close friends.

The family of Victoria Dominguez would like to offer their sincere thanks and gratitude to the amazing staff at Presbyterian Medical for the care they provided to their beloved mother.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 7:00pm at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Victoria’s Catholic funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00am at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco with burial to follow at the Chamisal (lower) cemetery.
