Vincent Gonzales

Vincent P. Gonzales passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 30, 2022.  Vincent was born January 30, 1956 and raised in Santa Fe, where he learned to enjoy the outdoors. Early in his youth and throughout his adult life, he loved fishing the lakes and rivers of Northern New Mexico. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed camping, hunting, and skiing. He taught his children and grandchildren how to appreciate the wonder and beauty of the outdoors. He married his true love Diane, was a loving husband of 42 years and a wonderful and dedicated father and grandfather. He excelled in sports, most of all basketball, and was captain of his Santa Fe High Varsity team. He continued to play basketball on local leagues and coached the youth of Santa Fe for 25+ years.

Vincent retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation where he supervised and designed highways. After retirement he opened a business to continue his passion for building and talent of skilled carpentry and design. Vincent loved to travel with his family, taking his granddaughters on adventures; camping, hiking, sledding and fishing. He traveled to Alaska, Europe, Hawaii, Nova Scotia, and Mexico, always finding the best fishing spots. Above all Vincent will be remembered for the love and support he showed to his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Vincent is preceded in death by his parents Otila and Tomas Gonzales, sisters Cecilia, Stella Magee (Cone), and brother Fernando. He is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Valerie (David), son Estevan (Erica), five grandchildren, Eliana, Alivia, Nina, Mackenzie, Arlene, sisters, Maryann Esquibel (John decd.), Marcella Elmer (Bill decd.), Bernadette; and brothers Daniel (Iliana), Jose (Rusty), sister-in-law Frances and many cherished nieces, nephews and great nephews/nieces.

Services for Vincent are as follows : 

Rosary Tueday, August 2, 2022 at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel of Light, 417 Rodeo Rd., Santa Fe, NM at 6:30pm.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Santa Maria De La Paz Catholic Church, 11 College Ave., Santa Fe, NM at 10:00am with burial to follow immediately at Rosario Cemetery.
