Walter Lewis Baker III, 62, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on December 21, 2014. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Lewis Baker, Jr., and his son, Joshua Freeman Baker. He is survived by his mother, Frances Bishop Baker; his son, Walter Lewis Baker IV, his wife, Madelyn Zarina Baker, his brothers, Phillip, David, Jerry and Paul, nephews, Joel Baker, Jeremy Baker, Jordan Baker and Hudson Baker, grand nephew, Caleb Baker, and many friends in the Navy and in the Taos community.
Lewis, a retired Navy Captain and Naval Aviator, was especially touched by the love of his very close friends and co-workers at Kit Carson Propane, the Taos Amateur Radio Club and the Taos Emergency Operations community.
A memorial service for family and friends was held on January 10, 2014 at Calvary Taos Church, located at 723 Camino del Medio, in Taos. A reception followed at the Kit Carson Telecommunications Center located adjacent to the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative Office on Cruz Alta. The Baker family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to The Stout Street Foundation, 7251 E. 49th Ave, Commerce City, CO 80022. Memorial arrangements are being made by friends of the family, with the assistance of the Rivera Funeral Home.
