Walter “Wally” Eric Romero passed away peacefully at his home during the early morning hours of December 10, 2021 with his loving and caring sister Emma Jean at his side. Wally was 60 years old and would have celebrated his 61st birthday on January 11, 2022.
Wally, as many knew him, was born January 11, 1961 in Embudo, New Mexico to Walter and Virginia “Gigi” Romero. He is preceeded in death by his mom Virginia “Gigi” Romero, dad Walter Romero, and infant brother Billy. Nephews, Josiah Ortega and infant Matthew Romero. His niece, Nirvana and her husband Nathan "Coon" whom he loved as a nephew.
Wally enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid music lover of all genres. He listed to music loud and proud, anytime day or night. Up until his health began to decline, Wally enjoyed going to concerts; too many to count and participated in many meet and greets where he received autographed pictures with artists along with various souvenirs.
A self-taught drummer, Wally learned and played the drums so well, he was Kardorifiic's drummer for 13 years. He also loved riding his 10-speed into town with his buddy Ricky to check out the sites and see what band was playing in the plaza. At home, Wally was happy to have family and friends over even if it was just to watch one of his favorite TV shows or listen to his favorite radio station, Ozzy’s Boneyard, full blast.
Wally is survived by his brothers Kardo (Teppy), Pasqual (Soma) who both took a big part in taking care of Wally’s health needs. His sister, his favorite of all, Emma Jean who was his caregiver till the end, JoAnne (Steven), Annette, Andrea and Marta (Davi), and Godson, Joaquin whom he loved dearly. He leaves behind his best friend and loyal puppy Toby, nieces and nephews include Mariel (Bryan), Astrea (Dillan), Tommy (Paula), James, Richard “Gordo”, Javier, Rosa, Pasqualito (LeAndra), Angelina, Emilio, Daniel (Alisha), Marcos, Kristofer (Chelsea) and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Although Wally struggled for many years with his health, he always put on a brave face and never complained about how much pain he was in. Wally will always be remembered for the loving, caring, and funny jokester, prankster, character that he was.
You will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. We love you and know you are exactly where you need to be, safe in the arms of our Lord. We know mom welcomed you home with open arms and Bandit was right there with her! May you rest in peace. Eternal rest grant unto you, and let perpetual light shine upon you.
Rosary will be recited on Saturday December 18, 2021 at 10:30 am with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taos, NM.
Wally will be laid to rest following the mass at Pacheco Cemetery on Camino Del Medio in Taos NM.
