Wendy Louise Martinez
July 09, 1949 ~ February 06, 2021
Wendy was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.
A longtime resident of Santa Fe, graduating from Santa Fe High in 1967. That is where she met the love of her life, "Chief Mike" Martinez.
These High School sweethearts were married for 51 years, until the passing of Mike in December of 2018.
During the 71 years of her life, Wendy spread the light of life and love to all that she met. She was the quiet, loving constant presence behind the
louder, gregarious Chief Mike. Wendy was a kind spirit, gentle but firm. She was a dedicated Registered nurse for 35 plus years, serving the community in her special, loving and knowledgeable manner. Wendy received her RN from the College of Santa Fe School of Nursing and just recently retired from a long tenure at Christus St. Vincent Hospital.
Upon retirement, Wendy moved into her dream home to begin a new chapter of her life. Unfortunately, this chapter was cut short by cancer.
Wendy and her only daughter, Ahna Duran, were constant companions. The two of them were always building or remodeling something!
They spent most days together working and laughing!
Wendy, we will always keep you in our hearts and we will continue to spread the light and love that you shared with us.
Thank you, Wendy, for the golden thread you have woven into the fabric of our lives.
Vaya con Dios, Wendy!
A celebration of Wendy's life will be advertised to all who loved her when covid restrictions are lifted: The Martinez and Duran families thank you for all your loving wishes and heartfelt comments.
