We will always carry your memory in our hearts. A Tribute to my Dad by Valerie Wright My Dad was a Man of Honor, A Man of Pride, a Hero. He fought for our country and I am proud of him. He was a straight shooter, told it like it was. But, he was also a Man with a big heart, full of love. He helped those in need. If you needed it, he would give you the shirt off his back. He was loving and caring. He was also a good listener. Anytime I needed to vent or just simply hear his voice, I knew he would be there to listen, no matter what he was going through he was there to listen. He also gave the best hugs ever! You would get lost in his arms as he wrapped them around you and squeezed tight! Those hugs alone were comfort enough to take away whatever emotional pain was there. He was a strong Man, stubborn, but strong! Anytime I would ask him how he was doing, he would simply say “I’m fine mija”. Even though he said those words, I knew deep down in my heart it was a different story, but he would never let it show. He stayed strong for others, I guess that kept him strong. I don’t know, but that is what I would like to think. He hardly let his guard down but when he did it showed me a side of him that I waited so long to see. It was like looking in the mirror. I finally got to SEE my Dad; I finally got to see ME in my Dad, if that makes any sense. How much we are alike, the hand gestures, the same thoughts, the ‘stink eye’, all of these same mannerism, seeing them first hand, put a smile on my face because it brought me closer to my Dad. You will be missed by many and tears will shed. But I know, deep down in my heart you will live on, just in a different way. I know you will still be around, checking in on us every now and then. I also know, that I need to let you go because, holding on too tight is selfish on my part. You need to fly, spread your wings and fly. So yes, I will share you with the Angels in Heaven. I love you; I love you so very much. I am going to miss you but it is time for me to let you go. May God Bless your soul Dad. You are now free, free to fly I LOVE YOU, DAD!
