William Weldon

September 29, 1959 — May 11, 2017

William (Bill aka “Dangerous Ba-Pop”) Michael Weldon, 59, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, died and went straight to heaven on May 11, 2017. Born in the Bronx, New York City, New York, part of a large, blue-collar, Irish family that moved to Union City NJ, he was the fourth of nine children. Bill first fell in love with New Mexico when out of high school he served in the Air Force at Kirtland Air Force Base. Bill later attended King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, where he met the mother other his three adored daughters. Bill lived in Lancaster, Pa, while his children were young, but later returned to Santa Fe in which he found solitude and peace in the mountains and strength and confidence to build his own construction company, Weldon Construction. Bill is survived by his three daughters Mary Stuart, Cathy Chanudet, and Patty Weldon; his two sons-in-law Al Stuart and Chris Chanudet; two revered grandsons Isaac and Ian Stuart; and two dogs Mickey and Finn, who will now be eagerly adopted by his grandsons. Bill is also survived by his father Jim Weldon, sister Cathy Sabol, brother Jim Weldon, brother Ed Weldon, sister Liz Porcelli, sister Claire Denis, brother Charlie Weldon, brother Joe Weldon, sister Teresa Ferlisi and honorary brother Mitch Sommers. Bill also has many nieces, nephews and cherished friends who will miss him dearly. Close friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Mass officiated by dear friend Richard Valentis at the Oratory of the Mother of God, a chapel Bill built with his own two hands, at 17 Wildflower Way, Santa Fe, at 5:30 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2017. All are welcome to attend a Mass of the Resurrection in memory of Bill Weldon at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, 1601 South St. Francis Drive, Santa Fe, at 9am on Monday, May 15, 2017. A memorial service will be held for Bill on the east coast in early June. In lieu of donations or flowers, please remember Bill by offering unconditional love and unbridled excitement to everyone around you. Bill was a real person who persevered and succeeded in life and will live on through his children and grandchildren. In other words, Bill was a baller.
