Zacarias Florencio Paña, 73, a resident of Fairview, NM went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2021, with his loving family and friends by his side.

Zacarias was born in Embudo, NM. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sylvia Paña, his faithful brother Joseph Paña and their parents Zacarias Paña, Sr. and Sofia Paña, father and mother-in-law Hilario and Veronica Martinez, sisters-in-law, Idalia Gallegos, Lucy Gallegos; and brother-in-law Larry Hliario Martinez.

Zacarias is survived by two sons; Zac Paña and his spouse Rolanda Paña. Isaac Paña. One daughter, Armaida Santana and her spouse, Lorenzo Santana. Seven grandchildren: Alyssa Paña, Isaac Paña (his faithful caretaker and sidekick), Ariela, Esaias, Santiago, Elario and Ezekiel Santana. Two great-grandchildren Sophiya and Daniel Bryant. Sisters-in-law: Annabelle Paña, Joyce Martinez, Cecelia Vargas and Virginia Vigil. Along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a few great compadres including the oldest basketball league in northern New Mexico.

Zac was proud to serve his community as a police officer. He retired as LT. and went back to serve as Deputy Chief totaling his time to the City of Española to thirty plus years.

Whether you knew him as Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Zac, Paña, LT or Deputy Chief, he was the glue that bonded, the man who listened, the one that went the extra mile whether it was a favor, money, just a ride or the Police Officer that gave someone a helping hand. He never expected anything in return.

The holy rosary will be recited and prayed for Pana at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde on Tuesday, May 18 2021 at 10AM, mass will follow at 11AM. Burial will take place after the mass at the Catholic Cemetery in Alcalde. Pana Family has entrusted his care to Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations.

The Family would like to thank Del Corazon Hospice Care for their gentle, kind care of Zac while he was home in his last days. We appreciate the time Jacob, Amanda, Myra, and Don took with our Dad and spent with the family.
